Scribe Post for 3/12/08

Scribe of the Day.... Lena

Today is March 12, 2008
And in math class we learn about…

Explicit Formula's

Explicit Formula- Operation with linear equation involves multiplication/division or addition and subtraction

Today's Example:

0,3
1,5
2,7
3,9
4,11
x, 2x+3

The explicit Formula is- y=2x+3

TODAY'S TERM OF THE DAY

SLOPE

Slope= Rise/Run it represents the ratio of going from one point to the next.

Slope= y2-y1/x2-x1

Looks confusing right.... Well it's not

Just look at it this way...

0,3 is the starting point right

3 is your Y intercept

If X is Zero you can find your Y intercept by looking at the number

Slope=Intercept= intercept form

EASIEST WAY TO KNOW!!!!

y=mx+b

M=slope
B=y-intercept
Y=Intercept from

Here how we would graph it

Summary of todays class
For today’s class MR Rochester returned our quizzes. And he had us submit a journal entry with what we thought we deserve on the quiz, based on how much we understand the material and how much we showed our work. Then he said he would compare them to the grade he gave us and have us prove that we deserve what we said we deserve.

After that he gave us some time to work with our group to work on the sketch of the class room, and to work on our own sketch that we have to make on Google SketchUp

February.6.2008

Basically what we did today was go over last nights homework about proportions.percents,and ratios. Also we discussed Mr.Rochester's expectations for the class for instance he feels that we don't follow the rules. When you re in Mr.Rochester's class don't pull out your laptop becuase you know you won't need it anyway it's algebra we use a pencil and paper. Also if you are failing his class you know who you are don't play music becuase you need to be focusing on your work and most the time you don't even have headphones, and Mr.Rochester collected e-mail information so intead of talking to all of our parents he is going to e-mail your progress. Monday a test is coming up becuase we don't have him Friday the test will be Monday study hard and no matter what you get on the test he's still sending them to your parents so you might as well try and look good. Today we also got our classwork there was no homework but we got our class work for the day,and you people who weren't in class,absent, or just not paying attention when he called your name for attendance get a make up sheet so you can get credit for the day. So everyone who missed this day make sure you get a makeup sheet for credit.

(The scribe for tomorrow is Chris.)

This is the classwork for the day.

Today we took a quiz based on our classwork and homework.

For class notes we learned how to solve ratios, solve proportions, and similar figures.

Notes:
